Co-founded in 1979 by Robert Buckler and internationally renowned director, Roland Joffe (The Killing Fields, The Mission).

First major success- the epic miniseries, The Last Place on Earth. Subsequently joined by Ildiko Kemeny, developing a reputation for international co-production such as with feature films Brothers in Trouble, Hotel Splendide and Room to Rent. Currently, Renegade owns 30% of Pioneer Productions in Budapest and is in development with an epic nine-episode TV miniseries, Mittee and Selina, set in 1890’s South Africa (see ‘Development’).

Robert Buckler

Robert is an award-winning film and TV producer, Screenwriter and Script Consultant. During a long career, 
he has been a BBC TV script editor (Play for Today, Thirty Minute Theatre), Head of Plays at Thames Television, Head of Producing at the National Film and TV School and Director of the Skillset Screen Academy at London College of Communication (UAL). His first production, Pressure, directed by Sir Horace Ove, was the UK’s first black feature film; Brothers in Trouble (directed by Udayan Prasad) which Robert wrote and produced, won the Golden Alexander for Best Film at the 1996 Thessaloniki Film Festival.

Ildiko Kemeny

Ildiko is a producing graduate of the National Film and Television School. In addition to her role in Renegade, she is the CEO of prolific international coproductions company, Pioneer Productions in Budapest. Her Pioneer producing credits include Poor Things, Dune:Part One, Radioactive, Red Sparrow, Colette and The Hunter’s Prayer as well as the TV series Shardlake, FBI International, The Continental, The Fear Index, The Witcher and All the Light We Cannot See.
